Anyone knows how to do an oil change on a 2006 Volvo S40?

If you are competent enough to do the job properly, then do it yourself. If you have to come on here to find out how it's done, then take it somewhere someone will do it for you. There's no point in messing up a simple job which can cost you dearly in the long run, just so you might save a few pennies...or mabe not.Anyone knows how to do an oil change on a 2006 Volvo S40?you know the dealer dosent do anything special when it comes to an oil change other than take you for what you got. It is not worth the effort to change your own oil when places like walmart and some of the quick lube places exist. You will spend the same amount buying oil and a filter as it would have cost at one of the above mentioned locations to do the entire job. So dont sweat an oil change let someone else do it. Unless you really want to jack up the car from the center eng support and reach under the center of the oil pan and drain the oil next go under the front pass side of the eng and remove the filter cartridge once you remove it pull out the filter and replace the O ring on the cartridge. install a new O ring on the drain plug as well and resecure making sure not to round the plug because it is aluminum then fill the car with oil I dont remember any more the exact fill I believe its 5.2 qts. let the car down start the car and idle for about 30 seconds so the oil can run throughout the engine and check to make sure it is filled properly the dip stick should be right in the front center of the engine with a red handle.Anyone knows how to do an oil change on a 2006 Volvo S40?The oil filter is accessed from the top of the engine, it is kinda behind the power steering pump and altenator, on the front side of the engine, the filter housing requires a 36mm socket to remove, after that you basically drain the oil from underneath with a 17mm wrench, remember to use a new aluminum gasket on the drain plug, then the engine holds about 6.25 qts. of 5w/30 engine oil, volvo recomends castrol. really just better off going to your local dealership and have it done, you ussually also get a brake inspection, tire pressures set, all fluids topped up and an overall beter check of the vehicle, the average oil change at a dealership is only about 45 bucks.Anyone knows how to do an oil change on a 2006 Volvo S40?I guess it depends where you live, because I have an S60, and the dealer is actually cheaper than the Midas near by work. At the Volvo dealership they open at 7 and I can get there before work, watch the news, and they will change the oil, fill all other fluids, tire pressure and check everything else for $29. At Midas, it was $36, and you needed an appointment. So I'm sure it depends on the place, maybe even other Midas locations close to me won't do that, I'm not sure. Regardless, the oil change is more difficult in Volvos compared to other models due to the location. It's towards the passenger side, behind the alternator. Getting to it, to drain the oil, can be a pain, and you'll spend almost as much plus factor in time and effort. . .There are also cheap places to check out for specials, like Walmart or Sears auto centers!Anyone knows how to do an oil change on a 2006 Volvo S40?here's a web site that will help you a lot on doing this, good luck with it http://www.epinions.com/auto-review-6E19Anyone knows how to do an oil change on a 2006 Volvo S40?Sure unscrew the drain plug.
