How do I reset the "service engine" light reset on my 05 Toy Corolla. Just got an oil change but light stillon
I know there is some sort of ritual like turning on the key to aux and pressing the odometer button but my fiddling is not working. How do I reset the %26quot;service engine%26quot; light reset on my 05 Toy Corolla. Just got an oil change but light stillonAs you HOLD the odometer down turn the key to on until it blinks %26quot;---------%26quot; across the odometer and it will go out.How do I reset the %26quot;service engine%26quot; light reset on my 05 Toy Corolla. Just got an oil change but light stillonYou need to have the dealer reset the switch. Next time, have the oil change done at the dealer (its not that expensive) and they will re-set it.How do I reset the %26quot;service engine%26quot; light reset on my 05 Toy Corolla. Just got an oil change but light stillonWhen the service engine light on my dad's subaru came on he had to take it to a subaru dealer to get it turned off (which is why it's still on). I think it is preset to come on at a certain mileage level to make you go get a checkup at the dealer. How do I reset the %26quot;service engine%26quot; light reset on my 05 Toy Corolla. Just got an oil change but light stillonThe service engine light may mean more than needing an oil change. Did you have someone actually check the computer to see what the issue was? If you prefer not to, you can reset it by unhooking the battery for 60 seconds then reconnect it. that resets the whoel system. Be advised, if there is an actual fault with the engine, you could do damge to it by ignoring the light. Your call. How do I reset the %26quot;service engine%26quot; light reset on my 05 Toy Corolla. Just got an oil change but light stillonthe service engine light should have nothing to do with an oil change. If it says service required then it is something that should be reset after the service is performed. But a service engine light is usually an emmisions problem from as little as a loose gas cap to an oxygen sensor. There is a big difference between service required and service engine. If it says service engine then you should go to auto zone or if they cant hook up to foreign cars then go to the dealer but expect to pay around $50 at the dealer while auto zone will do it for free.
How much does it cost to have an oil change for a foreign car i.e MB; BMW etc..?
depends on the type of oil needed. Most late model european cars need to use synthetic oil in that case you would pay around $50-$60 plus maybe a little more for the filter. If your car doesnt require synthetic then you shouldnt pay much more than an american made car just the filter might be a little more expensive. Around $20-$30.How much does it cost to have an oil change for a foreign car i.e MB; BMW etc..?$19.95 at Wal-Mart!How much does it cost to have an oil change for a foreign car i.e MB; BMW etc..?generally if you use the correct oil it should be around $60-$75 from your dealer and most independent mechanics

My husband has a 1995 yamaha virago 750cc, how many quarts of oil does it take for an oil change? thanks?
we never got a manual with the bike and he would like to change the oil, serious answers only, thanks againMy husband has a 1995 yamaha virago 750cc, how many quarts of oil does it take for an oil change? thanks?More than 3, less than 4 qts.
Depends on how thorough the oil is drained and whether or not the filter is changed.
Don't just pour in the recommend amount of oil.
Put the bike on it's centerstand.
The oil level inspection window is on the left side of the engine (on the bottom, near the front).
Add oil until it covers 3/4 of the inspection window.
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, to allow the oil to circulate throughout the engine and fill the oil filter.
Turn off the engine and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the oil to drain back down to the crankcase.
Check the oil level.
It should be up to the top line of the window.
Follow this procedure whenever checking the oil level. My husband has a 1995 yamaha virago 750cc, how many quarts of oil does it take for an oil change? thanks? The oil capacity for the 750 Virago is 3.3 quarts with filter

How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?
hey custardgirl......old engine oil is a messy thing with some considerations
1. alwayslet the engine cool before learning how to change oil
it will burn you badly
2. The %26quot;type and year of car%26quot; you have may prevent you, a novice from changing the oil and should let a lube place do it
The 2007 Toyota Camry has moved the oil drain near the firewall, and dropped the level of the car, complicating the entire process of draining without spills, evn for me....
3. Lube places that specialize in quick oil changes are fine, also Wal-mart may have a competent oil change specialist
4. The price of oil and oil filter ususally are about $10-$15 less than the price of the oil change place
5. I have discovered that disposing of the old oil is best left to the oil change place - and these places are so competitive that they really do fast work to please you
6. Just then %26quot;just change the oil and oil filter%26quot;, then you can change your own %26quot;air filter%26quot;
7. Buy the %26quot;air-filter%26quot; later, when you buy one from Wal-Mart at a much cheaper price.....at Wal-Mart you will find a catalog near those air-filters that will list your type/year of car, select the serial code and locate that on the shelf.....you will notice these prices are less than what the oil place would charge
8. If you have warrenty, use it, dealers may discount their oil change price at or near the %26quot;little-quick-change places%26quot;, and may include an air filter in that price....but call ahead and ask what is included in the oil change price
9. Oil changes are cheap, but wiper blades and air-filters changed by oil change places are usually not cheap....so be sure to ask the price ..then compare at Wal-Mart price, and learn to do those changes yourself! Also, those light bulbs for your turn-signals brakes, parking and dome lights are worth learning how to change yourself too-
In all, I know I didn't say how, but why or where to pay someone to change your oil, haha, and I suggest to learn the other small maintenance items that you can easily learn and do without injury to you, your car or the environment-
If you are persistent to learn oil changing, you may ask a friend who can %26quot;show you%26quot; the process, better than this:
1. juz, put down newspaper or cardboard and %26quot;position the catch pan under the plug%26quot;
2. get 2 old rags nearby and remove the drain plug, drain the oil
3. then remove the old oil filter, and catch that oil too,
4. then replace the drain plug, good-n-snug + 1/4 turn with a wrench
5. wipe a nice neat layer of the old oil around the rubber gasket on the new oil filter.... then replace the new filter on the engine and tighten it good-n-snug (handtight) do not over tighten the new filter, it will stick and be a really problem to remove next time!
6.Then refill the oil into the engine, replace that cap, and start the car, the oil light will go off quickly%26quot;.....I always do this process every 4000-5000 miles...the life blood of the engine
Cheers! How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?Any mechanic can be trusted its easy. All you do is take out the oil sump plug and unscrew the oil filter let it drain and put in new filter. Then put oil in it.How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?jiffy lube.. (if u have 1 of those where u live) lolHow do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?go to sears auto center they do oil changeHow do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?oil changes are easy but u gotta get dirty.
First open the hood and take the oil filler cap off. Next get under the car and take out the oil drain plug - make sure that the liquid coming out is black or brown, if it's red put the plug back in quickly.
Now let the oil drain all the way out. While it drains u can go ahead and remove the oil filter. This is best done with a filter wrench - if u don't have one u will have to destroy the filter to get it off. Once it's off make sure that the rubber gasket is on it (it'll be on the top- a black ring) if it's not then get it from off the engine - that's very important.
Before u put the new filter on stick the tip of ur finger in the old oil and slide the oil around the new gasket on top of the filter then just screw it into place. Do it as tight as u can with your hand.
Put the oil drain plug back in.
Fill with oil - usually five quarts and most modern cars use
5w-30 weight oil.
put the filler cap back on and start the car for 15 seconds. This is to make sure that there is no leak from under the car.
That's it - ur done. How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?you can do it yourself. very easy. my mom can do it haha. How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?Walmart will do it for $15 - $20, and guarantee it.How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?Buy the correct amount of oil and the correct type from any auto store, they can tell you what to get if you give them your car specs. You also need to buy an oil filter (auto store can also tell you which one you need) and an oil filter wrench.
You will need to raise you car off the ground so you can fit under it (buy a couple jack stands or ask a neighbor to lend some), you will also need a ratchet and socket that will fit your oil pan drain plug and a bucket or oil pan to drain the oil into.
(1) - warm the car up to operating temp and shut off (lowers viscosity for easy drainage)
(2) - put the car on blocks/stands
(3) - remove the drain plug carefully with the bucket/pan already under the hole. The oil can be a bit too warm for comfort if you get it on your hands so have a rag ready to wipe off your hands. Also if your drain plug is set on an angle, the oil will shoot out at that angle so make sure your pan/bucket will catch it.
(4) While the oil is draining, take you filter wrench and remove the filter (round white or yellow cylinder about the size of a mug) some hot oil may spill out so have your rag handy. Drain the filter into the used oil bucket (takes a while so you might just want to set it aside to drain later).
(5) by now the oil should have drained, put the plug back in.
(6) Fill the new oil filter with new oil until its about a 1/2 inch from the top of the hole, dip your finger in the oil and rub it on the gasket (prevents it from sticking or folding with will break the seal, also make for easy removal next time). Then screw the filter in, hand tight (not as tight as you can but firm).
(7) Making sure you've put the plug and filter back on, fill the engine with 80% of the required amount, start it up for a few seconds (works the oil through the engine so you can get an acurate reading on the dipstick) then take the car off the stands (make sure you didn't leave anything under the car first), and check the oil with the dip stick. Continue to add the rest of the oil until you are at the correct mark on the dip stick.
(8) Don't dump the oil down the drain! Find a reliable jug or just fill the used oil cartons and take it to an auto shop or some auto stores will take it. Also the filter.
OR
Bring it to an oil change place or any autoshop and get it changed for around $100
hope this helped. How do I do an oil change? or who should I trust to do it?Never trust anybody to do an oil change. Why would you want to be ignorant of how to do one? Does that ever come in handy? The easiest way to learn how is get somebody who knows how to show you. It only takes about 5 minutes. You remove a drain plug in the bottom of the engine and the oil drains out. The rest is pretty much obvious.

Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?
so i have seen how the do a oil change and change the oil filter i want to do it but can i messed it up??i have seen videos on youtube i think i cna do it but what if i brake somehting, its a 2003 dodge ram cna i brake somehtingCan i do an oil change myself without messing up?An oil change is one of the things every home mechanic should be able to do. You need the proper tools (don't think you can undo everything with pliers), a suitable container to drain the old oil into, and a sheet to catch the mess around the edges. Rubber gloves are a good idea. I do it after a run so the engine oil is warm and drains easily. Take off the filler cap to let air in easily, and unscrew the sump plug VERY slowly, so that you make sure you have got the collecting container in the right place. It's going to be hot oil coming out, so don't jump and drop the sump plug into the old oil. Be careful not to lose the washer on the plug. When the oil has finished draining, remember to put the sump plug back. The final thing to beware of is knocking the container of old oil before you close it. Getting the old oil filter off is easy with the proper wrench. Put a smear of oil on the rubber of the new filter before you screw it back in.
Have fun.Can i do an oil change myself without messing up?No. Oil changes are easy. Likely you'll make a small mess the first time, but you don't deal with easily breakable parts. Without making a mess ,probably not.
You will need a large tub to collect the used oil, a wrench to remove the drain plug, a filter wrench, some filters can be removed by hand,
and enuff plastic jugs to transport the used oil to an auto parts store for recycling about 5 quarts.
It's kind of fun but messy for average doers. Cat litter can be used to absorb the spilt oil, spread it out, let it sit for a hour and sweep it up and discard.
