How do you reset the %26quot;maintenance required%26quot; light on a Toyota Yaris after an oil change? We will hope someone will know for sure.

Here a few to try. Not starting the car. Turn on the key and try holding the Gas pedal to the floor, or push 2-3 times to the floor. May hold the brake and try also. If, you have a display button that can scroll various information (Like Oil index, may show 50% stuff like that) Scroll to the oil display and push and hold the %26quot;Reset%26quot; button until it resets. May try disconnecting the battery, but, many may not clear on that.

If not, under where the light is )at least in my vehicle), there is a little %26quot;window%26quot; - stick a pen tip through and push back the little dial to reset)..the red light should now go off. If I take my car to walmart to get an oil change, can I pick the EXACT type of oil I want them to use?I tried that but they wanted to charge me the same price as if they did it themselves, so basically I would have to pay $20 for the oil + $30 for the oil change = $50, instead of just the $30 for them to do it.If I take my car to walmart to get an oil change, can I pick the EXACT type of oil I want them to use?yes. If I take my car to walmart to get an oil change, can I pick the EXACT type of oil I want them to use?if they offer that particular oil then yes you can request to use it. some places offer only 10w30 or 10w40 and make you pay more for 20w50 or 5w30 (i used 20w50 in my high mileage car and it worked great). i don't think you can buy the oil and have them put it in for you... you might want to check into other oil change places, like jiffy lube or super lube, if walmart doesn't offer the oil you want to use.

I let my car go too long without an oil change. Should I change it again in 1000 miles to be safe?

It's a '95 Mazda Protege, and it was 8000 miles since the last change, I just changed it the other day. I know that's a terrible idea, and I was wondering whether I would be doing any good to change it again soon, in case the new oil I just put in is going to get dirty quickly, considering how long it had been. Or, is there something else I can do to try to minimize the damage I've done?I let my car go too long without an oil change. Should I change it again in 1000 miles to be safe?Ok...I work at a oil and lube shop and I think you should change it earlier and go ahead and pay for an ENGINE FLUSH service.

We sell a BG product that comes in a kit. We check the oil level on the car to make sure it's full than add the cleaner to the vehicle and let it run for 15 minutes or so.

Than we shut the car off and pull the plug and let the oil and cleaner drain out. Than before putting the plug back in we flush it with a qrt or oil to make sure all the sludge and carbon build up comes out. Than the plug gets put back in and we add the oil and an oil conditioner that protects the engine from future sludge build up.

We recommend that the service be done every 30,000 miles or whenever the customer goes to long on the Oilchange. (over 3,000 miles.)

After you get this done it would be a good idea to put the oil condtioner in every other oil change to keep it clean until it's time for the next engine flush.

When you go for your next oil change ask for a BG engine flush. I provided a link if that helps. This service helps, I do it on my own car.

If they don't carry BG products find a shop that does. Its pretty good stuff for your car.I let my car go too long without an oil change. Should I change it again in 1000 miles to be safe? You haven't done any damage to your engine. I would change the oil filter in another 2000 miles, though. What do i need to do to start an oil and tire change business?

I am starting my own car detailing/rental bay business and I want to also do oil changes and new and used tire changes. Im not sure if I need certificates for oil changes or how to go about getting one. What should I do first? I have worked in the automotive field for 10 years and I know alot about auto repair. Im just not sure what i have to do legally. I've already done my business proposal and I have investors and a location. Now what?? Help me....What do i need to do to start an oil and tire change business?Your going to need a lot. First off you are going to need a building with service bays, Lifts , or pits to change the oil in. Secondly you will need tires, and again lifts and jacks to change tires with. You will also need a machine to balance tires and rims. You will need bays to rent out as well. You will need courtesy vehicles to pick up and drop off customers. You will need buffers, many chemicals, hot water extractors, vacuums, ladders, water tanks and much more to detail cars. You will also need permits and employees which aren't cheap. You need to train your workers because no one is going to come to a business and trust their car to someone off the street w/o any certification. You also need ways to dispose of the oil as most states and countries have strict laws on those type things. Overall a business like this will take a lot of money time, and effort to start.

How do u know ur car needs an oil change?

i am currently driving a used 2005 dodge neon sxt. when i bought it, it had only 10,450 miles. i got the oil change done at 12,260 miles. i have been told i should get the oil change done partcularly for this car every 5000 miles, but some say evcer 3000 miles. would anything happen to your car if you didnt get an oil change reguarly? How do u know ur car needs an oil change? For a longer car life and a better re-selling point, it's best to change it around the 3000 mile mark. It's not mandatory, but it is better for your car. Not changing your oil can have serious consequences, but they come much later than 5000. If you tend to drive a lot it's best to change it and keep an eye on oil levels. When I was driving home from college a lot I noticed that I had to put in oil in between oil changes simply because I had an older car and I was running it a lot. How do u know ur car needs an oil change?in the long run you will have engine trouble.. i change mine every 2500 personally but 3,000 to 4,000 is a good time...How do u know ur car needs an oil change? If you didn't change it regularly between 3000 and 5000 nothing would happen. To change it every 3000 is really a waste the extra 2000 miles does not damage whatsoever. Don't panic if you don't hit it at 5000 exactly either change it at 5000 to 5500.How do u know ur car needs an oil change?you have a pretty good idea by looking at the stick. if it,s getting black, it,s time to change it.How do u know ur car needs an oil change?if you drive stop/go then change the oil more often, every 2500 miles. The same is true if you drive mostly short trips, maybe 10 miles or less.

if you drive mostly freeway over 10 mile trips then 5000 is fine.

Short trips makes the oil dirtier faster %26amp; it loses its ability to lubricate properly.

How do u know ur car needs an oil change? You're supposed to change your oil every 5,000 miles on a car like that. An oil and filter change is only like $25-30 so I would reccomend doing it often. What you'll save in not paying for more frequent oil changes, you'll spend in engine repair a while down the road.

When do i get an oil change for a 2001 Acura MDX?

  • How do you remove the fairings of a 09 Honda CBR 600RR for an oil change?

I am trying to do my 1st oil change and have removed the bolts for both lower fairings. There however appears to be a hook or clamp connecting the lower fairings together at the low front, and the lower fairings to the mid fairings on each side. Please provide detailed instructions on how to remove unlike the owner's manual. Thank You!!How do you remove the fairings of a 09 Honda CBR 600RR for an oil change? You shouldn't have to remove any plastics on this bike to change your oil filter. I can slide mine right out the front. And the drain plug is right on the bottom of engine. However, if you want to remove those pieces, simply turn the screws, the plastic ones you pull on the screw to seperate pieces. How do you remove the fairings of a 09 Honda CBR 600RR for an oil change? Thanks!! I was able to drain the oil, replace the filter through the front, and shift the lower fairing to the side to refill.

How much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz?

The guy told me i needed a more expensive synthetic type of oil. The oil change and change of %26quot;oil filter%26quot; cost a total of $158, is this right? or did i just get completely ripped off? Will those $30 oil changes work in my 2006 c230 ?How much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz?Your engine was designed for synthetic oil. Among oher things, your car has an oil quality sensor and an onboard service reminder system that depend on you using synthetic lubricants. You should be changing the oil when the system tells you to. If you do this you can get 10,000 miles or more on an oil change, which offsets the high cost.

Never trust a Mercedes to your local oil change place. Although there's really no rocket science involved, there are enough differences from domestic cars to baffle the kids who work in these places. If you don't want to use a dealer, at least take the trouble to seek out a qualified independent shop. How much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz? The '06 C230 has the 2.5L V6 engine so it uses the synthetic fibre oil filter and 8 litres ( 8.5 quarts ) of synthetic engine oil. From a dealer, the parts alone will cost you around $100 so with labour and tax added, I'd say $158 sounds about right.

The quick lube shops that advertise oil changes for 30 bucks wouldn't do your car for the same price. The reason is because of the high cost of that synthetic oil filter in your car. Even if you were to put in less expensive conventional oil, the price for an oil change would still be much higher.

Here's another way of looking at it. Yes, oil changes are expensive but on a Benz, with their Flex Services schedule, you do oil changes much less frequently. So you pay more per service but you do them less often. How much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz? The price isn't too far out of range, the dealer I work at has an oil change special that costs $95., including the OEM filter and the correct synthetic oil. For a carry-out customer we sell 8 quarts of oil and a filter for $94. plus tax

The information you got is true, Mercedes has an exact specification for oil in the newer engines and you can't get it everywhere. It sounds like the shop that did your oil change is reliable and honest. How much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz?they will work but you are supposed to use fully synthetic in all new engines just because it lubricates better and it makes the engine last longer. However it can cost around 9 dollars a quart as well. You can use a cheaper brand of synthetic though and it will usually work just as goodHow much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz?At the MB stealership, or from local shop? Local shop synthetic Mobil 1 should only run you $60, with generic filter of course. Jiffy lube will run $20 on regular oil and get you out of there in 10 minutes. The filter may or may not be changed, but you'll be charged for it.How much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz?you can take it to another place to have changed the synthedic oil changes run $50,00 I know because this is what i do with my merdedesHow much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz?Depending if its a Dealer or an Independent Shop ,they range from

    $40.00-$60.00 in a shop

    Then;

$70.00-$125.00 in a Benz Dealer due to their Genuine Parts and specialty..How much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz?Yes, to both questions. You are being ripped off and $30 will do just fine. How much is an oil change supposed to cost for an '06 Benz?Yes to both

About how much for an oil change for VW at dealer?

Can anyone tell me about how much an oil change would run me for a 2005 VW Passat DOHC 4 cylinder? I live in NW Pennsylvania. Wal Mart was going to do it with a fuel injection cleaning for $45, but they do not carry theVW oil filter.About how much for an oil change for VW at dealer? Why do people bash dealerships? As if they were evil personified?

My VW dealer treats me with respect and charges a fair price.

At $45 Walmart will not use the correct oil. This IMO is very important. Use the correct oil and genuine filter. You can run all over town buying oil here , a filter there and then take it to a shop and wait some more.

Why not go to local dealer who knows your car and its requirements best and save time?

My dealer charges $68 [synthetic oil] and half hour later, I'm out. So yes, couple of $ more, but remember; you get what you pay for......About how much for an oil change for VW at dealer?i would say 50 or so.About how much for an oil change for VW at dealer?Twenty five dollars at another place. A manuel will provide information on the oil.About how much for an oil change for VW at dealer? If you have Walmart change the oil, you'll need to buy the synthenic oil change for the vehicle using Mobil 1 European formula.. and you can buy the oil filter and drain plug washer from the dealer. In this area, Walmart charges $55 using a Fram oil filter for their oil change. Its still far less expensive than the dealership; in the Bay Area around San Francisco, dealerships charge from $60+ and more (usually MORE!) for a synthenic oil change for a VW. Hourly rates vary, so at your location it could be more or less; in most cases, less than here in the San Francisco area.

  • How many miles do you have to drive on an oil change...?

For it to mess up an engine. I change mine regularly but was wondering how long it would take to break and engine and what parts would go first. This is assuming that the there is no oil burnoff or decrease in the oil level. How many miles do you have to drive on an oil change...?It depends on the vehicle. An air cooled VW would probably die after 30,000 miles. A water cooled engine would probably last 50,000 or so miles. I have known people who never change their oil, they just add it, but that is a different story because oil is being replaced. How many miles do you have to drive on an oil change...?It depends really on if its synthetic or regular oil, also depends on how you drive the car. The oil will break down first loosing it's detergent to keep the oil clean along with the engine this will start the sludge problem and from there the oil burns off from lack of circulation due to sludge. So maybe 10,000 to 30,000 miles. How many miles do you have to drive on an oil change...?that depends on the conditions the engine operates in. for instance an engine that is used for short trips wont last as long on the same oil as an engine that is constantly used for long trips. the reason for this is that oil has an operating temperature as does the engine, and short trips dont allow the oil to get up to the proper operating temperature so that liquid contaminants in the oil can be burned off.

also an engine that operates in a heavily dusty environment wont last as long as an engine that operates light dusty environment.

one more thing that you have to take into account is driving style. if you constantly drive like jeff gordon in his company car, your engine wont last as long as if you drove the car far more gently. How many miles do you have to drive on an oil change...?Depends on many factors, heat, wear of the engine, if the oil is synthetic, semi synthetic or regular oil, the grade of the oil, how many cylinders the engine has, how it is driven, if the area being driven is dusty or all paved. All those factors play a part, higher heat, driven hard then the oil breaks down quicker.

Generally for a regular gasoline piston engine the first parts of the engine that would break down would be the piston rings, they are rather flimsy and need a layer of oil or they will break and start sending pieces into the oil pan and scratching the cylinder walls. The crankshaft and crankshaft bearings need to be lubricated, without that spinning freely and no pieces of debris, like broken pieces of piston rings, the engine will seize up and you're left with a big paperweight. The valves and valvetrains also need to be lubricated or the top end will stick a valve and damage a piston. How many miles do you have to drive on an oil change...?Anywhere between 12,000 and 18,000 miles. You would probably throw a rod when the motor oil became thick black sludge. How many miles do you have to drive on an oil change...?Depends on the car. My old truck would certainly die after 6000 miles. It burnt a quart of oil per 3000 miles.

My new car doesn't consume any oil at all, and specifies an oil change every 5000 miles. I bet it would run for 30,000-50,000 miles before completely breaking(synthetic oil). It would probably run like crap after about 15,000 and who knows if it would return to normal after an oil change.

How do i know if my car needs an oil change?

After that, change it every three thousand miles along with the oil filter. It is also good practice to change or inspect the air filter (It is white when new, but if it is excessively dirty, change), spark plugs, wire set, distributor if this applies to your vehicle. Also have the codes pulled for free at autozone. Somes codes will not illuminate the check engine light.

Midas has pretty complete car checks for free. There's a board that tells you what's free when you go in. Take it there to get the oil change and don't jump to get anything repaired before getting a second opinion although I had a good experience there. You should also check the condition of your transmission fluid. Midas will check the ph/condition of your coolant if you bring it there also. Coolant should be green or red, depending on what type you use. Transmission fluid should always be red.How do i know if my car needs an oil change?Pull out dipstick, look at color. How to do an oil change on jeep?

i have a 1997 jeep wrangler 2.5L 4 cyl and if i dont do an oil change myself it will never get done. Was just wondering how to do it.How to do an oil change on jeep?Having jockied a lot of oil in my day, here's my reccomendation:

1 Open the hood, remove the oil filler cap, place it near the hood latch. (i put it on the latch so you cant close the hood with it there, you'll never forget to put it back on that way)

2 Grab your oil catch pan, get under the Jeep. Using a 15 millimeter wrench, remove the plug on the oil pan to drain the oil. Once the oil has drained (just dripping, not a constant stream from the hole) reinstall the plug hand tight. Dont crank on it real hard, just get it tight.

3 Put your oil catch pan under the oil filter, and from the TOP side of the engine, reach down between the engine and passenger fender well, and unscrew the oil filter. The oil is going to run down the side of the engine block and get all over the control arm, you really dont want to be laying under it, rolling around in dirty oil. Make sure that the rubber o-ring (gasket) on the oil filter is not still attached to the engine, it must come off! If its still on there when you install the new filter, the new gasket wont seal and when you fire it up, you will pump tons of your new oil out of the engine onto the floor, in no time flat.

4 Smear a little fresh oil on new oil filter gasket and install the new filter hand tight, you really cant overtighten it by hand, give it a good twist.

5 The Jeep 2.5L takes 4 quarts of oil. I like to run 10W-30 in the summer and 5W-30 in the winter. I live in wisconsin, the 5W makes cold starts a little easier. You can run either. Slowly pour in your 6 quarts of fresh oil, and reinstall the oil filler cap.

6 Start the engine, check under the Jeep for leaks, if you see anything leaking, shut the car off immedatley and find out why. If you have no leaks see step 7.

7 Shut the engine off, let it chill for a min (top off you washer fluid, check your air filter, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid and power steering fluid) Now check the oil level. It should be right at the very top of full, not over, not under. If not, find out why.

8 Remember all the oil that ran down the engine and suspension?? Wipe it all off. I like to hit it all with a little brake clean, it rinses off oil very well. Dont forget to to reset you service light (if equipped) and write out an oil change sticker, cause you'll forget.

Dont forget to properly dispose of your used oil and filter. How to do an oil change on jeep?you get a pan to drain the oil in, a wrench to loosen the oil bolt from under the car,

How do I turn off my oil change light on an 05 impala?

I got my oil changed last week, and my %26quot;change oil%26quot; light still comes on every time I start my car? I tried to open my fuse box to reset and Im having troubles opening that..lol. Turn the key to the %26quot;On%26quot; position then back to off, do that 3 times and on the 3rd time leave it in the %26quot;On%26quot; position, then depress the gas pedal to the floorboard 3 times. Turn the key back to the %26quot;Off%26quot; position and it should be reset. If that does not work here is the other one that I know..

Turn the ignition on and turn the radio off. Push down the tune nob until settings is displayed on the radio. Push the seek button until you see oil life. Push the next button on the radio until you see the word reset then push the tune nob again. this will reset the oil timer on the car and change oil light should turn off.

Good luck, and contact me if you need any other help with this, I know it can be frustrating. How do I turn off my oil change light on an 05 impala? Here's the easy way to do it. • What do I have to visually inspect and do that is equivalent of an oil change at the autoshop?

I know a lot of times technicians ignore company protocols in a standard oil change. Twice I had mechanics that forget about capping whatever they uncapped under the hood. One time I've driven the car for a day or two and had a cap still sitting under the hood! These mechanics love to overcharge but their work is pitiful. How do I double check their work to make sure they did everything? What do I have to visually inspect and do that is equivalent of an oil change at the autoshop?Check the tire pressure, and all fluids like power steering, transmission, brake, and clutch if you have a clutch.

By all means check the oil level. They are notorious for overfilling it. That it takes time for the oil to fully drain to the oil pan. Most just add oil until it says it is full without waiting. What do I have to visually inspect and do that is equivalent of an oil change at the autoshop?Um...what? It's an oil change...so there's maybe 1 cap involved. 2 if you have a drop in filter.

The only way to make sure they do %26quot;everything%26quot; is to 1)Know what everything is, and 2)Watch them while they're doing it.

My best advice to you is to change your own oil, otherwise you can't really complain about the work they do when essentially they make no money from a standard oil change (assuming 20-25 bucks). Unless you drive something special (i.e. something they don't see everyday/can't learn anything from) they aren't going to care how good their work is. And if you act like a D.B. they definitely will do a poor job. What do I have to visually inspect and do that is equivalent of an oil change at the autoshop? If you go to walmart tire lube express we check: tire pressure, wipers, oil and transmission fluid, power sterring fluid, test battery, wash windshield, vaccum interior, check air filter and do tread depts. This is called courtsey.

Then we do the lower bay procedure witch includes dropping the oil filter, dumping the oil and greasing up the fittings if there are some. We then torque the drain plug back to factory specs, apply torque seal and check for leaks when the vehicle is started. Also check transfercase and differencial fluid level.

The upperbay procedure is fill the oil, fill washer fluid, start vehicle and top off oil.

The oil changes there start off at $30 so if you can do it yourself you will save alot of money.

If the gas in my car finishes sooner than usual do I need an oil change?

I don't remember how long ago I had an oil change. Usually I keep track but my dad changed it without telling me when he took my car to get new tires. I explained to him about the gas and he says, %26quot;it's an old car what do you expect.%26quot; F.Y.I. I have an 89 honda civic. It may be OLD but I know my CAR when it's acting different. Wouldn't you?If the gas in my car finishes sooner than usual do I need an oil change?Probably needs a tune up.If the gas in my car finishes sooner than usual do I need an oil change? You may need more maintenance then just an oil change.

A lot of different things can cause your MPG to go down and an oil change may or may not be part of it..

But you should start with the standard maintenance and check it off until you find what is causing the loss:

Your dad is right in that you need to consider how much extra you are paying for gas versus how much extra you want to throw into repairs on your car that is otherwise working fine and how long you intend to keep your 21year old car.

Your regular maintenance should take a look at

Oil Change, Air Filters, PCV Valve, Tire Pressure, check the level and quality of all other fluids, clean MAF and throttle body, perhaps throw in fuel injector cleaner additive (Gumout or Redline or Amsoil)

Then after that things may start getting more expensive if you want to start inspecting and/or replacing

Alignment/Brakes, SparkPlugs, other sensors. If the gas in my car finishes sooner than usual do I need an oil change?to answer your question: NO, But keep your oil changed, everyone has their own opinion of how often, but I go 3000 or not more than 4000 between oil %26amp; filter changeIf the gas in my car finishes sooner than usual do I need an oil change?check all: tire air pressure, air filter, change oil, any leaking, fuel line are over the center of the vavle cover(usually), hard skinny piped lines, anchored down, smell around for gas?

change spark wires and plugs, get additive for gas to burn deposts, that stick in valve galleries, causes seeps, during normal driving

best i can doIf the gas in my car finishes sooner than usual do I need an oil change?Oil changes have nothing to do with gas mileage (oil weight will have some effect on it however). You could need a new air filter or a tune up. The thermostat could not be opening correctly causing the computer to feed more gas to the engine thinking that the engine is not at operating temperature.

How much should an oil change be?

Im going to a dealership shop tomorrow to change my oil for $32. Should I shop around a little, or is this pretty standard? I've never done it before. How much should an oil change be?An oil change can be anywhere from $25-50 dollars.

Somewhere between $25 and $30 for conventional motor oil (regular oil)

And around $40 or $50 for synthetic oil.

Wal mart has good prices on oil changes for about $20 dollars, but sometimes you end up waiting 2 hours.

I got sick and tired of waiting, and i've been doing my own oil changes for 2 years now. I don't really care to save money, but my time matters the most. Doing an oil change myself takes 15 mins. And you can get much better quality oil for the same price. Autozone always has oil change specials, 5 qts + filter for $15.00

Some things to consider are the location of your oil filter, it it is underneath your car, you will need to jack up your car. most imports have more easily accessible filters and are a lot easier and don't require jacking. How much should an oil change be?Motor oil is around $15 a gallon at Auto Zone and an oil filter will cost you around $4. The oil change shops pay minimum wage for teenagers to do the work and use bulk oil for oil changes and charge you ~$25. $32 dollars at a dealership sounds like a good deal to me.

    How much should an oil change be?We do it ourselves. $32 is pretty cheap for someone to do it for you, most services in australia cost between $80 and $250. I guess it depends on how much a bottle of oil and a filter costs.How much should an oil change be?thats pretty standard, although you could do it yourself for almost half the price, and way better oil!!! dealerships tend to use the %26quot;buy in bulk%26quot; genaric stuff.How much should an oil change be?thats pretty pricy . shop around there are lots of better deals out there%26lt;

Does honda have fully synthetic oils? How much for an oil change?

I drive a lot (3000 miles/month) and i want to save time changing the oil for my civic lx. i always take it to honda for a change of oil and filter, but would you think Honda has a fully synthetic one like Mobil 1? And how much do you think it would cost me? thanks!Does honda have fully synthetic oils? How much for an oil change?here's what you do. if you have an oil change place do the work, specify 4 qts. 10W30 VALVOLINE FULL SYNTHETIC, SEMI SYNTHETIC, or even standard motor oil, 1 qt. DURALUBE (an oil additive which coats all your moving parts in your engine, keeps the oil from breaking down and heating up, and extends the original mfg warrenty an extra 100,000 miles) VERY GOOD STUFF FOR YOUR ENGINE AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, 1- BOSCH premium oil filter. bosch is, by far, the best filter. once you start using valvoline oil in your engine, stick with valvoline. it's not recommended that you keep switching brands of oils for the same engine. and also, the duralube is to be used every 4 oil changes. this engine will last a lifetime if you do this, and keep up the maintenance of your car. i do need to warn you that this is not a cheap oil change, but isn't your engine worth it? if you purchase the parts yourself, and using the standard valvoline oil (which, btw is ok when using the duralube) its going to be about $3.35/ qt. bosch filter about $6.00 and 1 qt duralube about $20.00/ qtDoes honda have fully synthetic oils? How much for an oil change?Yes they offer synthetic oil. You should go to an independent place, not the dealer. They will charge you like $40 for an oil change, an independent place charges like $25. Don't believe all the BS they offer with the oil change. It's a bunch of %26quot;inspects%26quot;...like inspect tires, inspect fluids. Basically just %26quot;looking%26quot; at your tires and fluids. Ohh big wow. Definitely not worth $20 extra dollars.Does honda have fully synthetic oils? How much for an oil change?Honda does have full synthetic oil. You will pay an additional

$20.00 more on top of the regular oil and filter change price.

How many quarts of oil do you need for a 95 dodge intrepid after an oil change?

I just got an oil change done on my 95 dodge intrepid 2 days ago. It hasnt went anywhere due to needing a new thermostat. but when we went to check the oil today after the red check engine light came on , no oil was showing up on the dipstick. It's in the back of mine. How many quarts of oil do you need for a 95 dodge intrepid after an oil change?I believe 5 qts is correct for that car and if it isn't its close enough to show on the stick, and safely run the car and turn the light out. if after 5 qts no oil was showing something is wrongs, left the drain plug out? (not be facetious it happens) didn't remove the o-ring from the old oil filter and is sprayed all the oil out, put the oil in the wrong place? How many quarts of oil do you need for a 95 dodge intrepid after an oil change?Five quarts and then check it with the dipstick.... I used to own a 2001 New Beetle, I never payed more than $25.00 for an oil change.

I recently had my oil changed in my 2006 New Beetle, and it cost me $75.00. Was I taken advantage of or does this price sound correct to anyone else? They told me my car used a %26quot;special%26quot; oil that would be around $50 or so, then they said I had to have a special oil filter that I'm guess cost around $25.00 Turns out, my special oil is not really that special. Its synthetic castrol. What do you all think??How much should an Oil Change cost for a 2006 VW New Beetle Convertible? The harsh truth is this is an accurate number for a fully synthetic oil change.

Many shops mark up the price of the oil and filters A LOT! On top of that you are paying for labor. Yes you can get them a little cheaper elsewhere but expect to pay around $60-$80 for a full synthetic oil change.

BTW even with synthetic dont go more than 7500 miles tops before an oil change, most recommend 3k-5k miles.

You can do it yourself for about $35-$40, if you don't want to or can't and go to a shop to have your oil changed, ask them what they include in their oil change that makes it so much. Sometimes they add cleaners that increase the cost but are not neccessary and you can get a lower %26quot;package%26quot; that would just be oil and filter and labor. How much should an Oil Change cost for a 2006 VW New Beetle Convertible?I just had the oil changed on my 2007 Jetta and it cost me 68.00 dollars!! The required oil change limit in the owners manual is MERELY A GUIDELINE, its NOT exact, and it states this in most manuals.

You can EASILY exceed 3-5k oil change limits, as long as your car is in good operating condition and the oil dipstick sample doesnt come up in the Black Color Panel.

There are actually people with 100+ miles in their truck who NEVER changed their oil, they only changed their oil filters....and Technically this is possible since most Motorcraft filters filtrate down to 1-3 Microns I believe.

(dont quote me to those exact numbers, but the filtration is very good.)

However I would never do this, you should definately and OBVIOUSLY change your oil.........I was ONLY making a simple point.

DONT worry if you go past your oil change date, its NOT a big deal at all....however check the dipstick anyways.

If your driving an older car, I WOULD change the oil, since your going on a long distance trip.

If you own a newer vehicle....just check the oil, and you'll be FINE.

I accidentally poured the aluminum seal in the engine while doing an oil change please help!?

While doing an oil change I begin pouring in the new oil and I saw part of the aluminum that seal the oil bottle fall into the engine and when I started the engine a hissing noise started and the RPMs stay elevated and when I shut off the engine I hear a bit of a grinding noise. Does anyone have any Idea how to fix this?I accidentally poured the aluminum seal in the engine while doing an oil change please help!?The odds of the aluminum piece causing the problem you have seems kind of rare. I doubt if it is hurting anything. I wonder if you did something else while you were changing your oil, like bumping a vacum hose. That would make a hissing noise and the rpm's would be high at idle. I would look for a vacum hose that came off.I accidentally poured the aluminum seal in the engine while doing an oil change please help!?You should not have started your car. Your best bet it to pull the valve cover and hope the seal is still intact or only in a few pieces.I accidentally poured the aluminum seal in the engine while doing an oil change please help!?well depending on how much of the aluminum seal you poured in it could be a problem...if it was like the size of a green pea it probabally couldnt affect anything to where something could be grinding, but if a big enough piece went in depening on where you put your oil in (im guessing the valve cover) i dont think it get any farther than in your valve cover but if it did get into your oil pan it might get sucked to the oil pump resulting in high oil pressureI accidentally poured the aluminum seal in the engine while doing an oil change please help!?Get a professional oil flush as soon as possible. The sealant can cause major problems blocking small oil flow passeges starving parts causing metal on metal wear. They cost around $100 for the oil flush.

The grinding will only get worse until the parts are worn down. And this will cost many many more times than the $100 to fix.

Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?

Not too long ago, there was an article featured on Yahoo! news that fuel injected cars don't need to get oil changes every 3000 miles. I have a '95 Civic DX hatchback with 78k original miles. How often should I change the oil? I don't have the original owner's manual.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?HI! Actually it is the manifacturers recommendation to change the oil every 3,000 miles. This is to have an efficient engine. However, I have some friends have their oil change every 5,000 to 6,000 miles and their cars still runs great. My brother did not have his oil changed for at least 18 months and he travelled around 7,250 Miles. I had it changed oil after that and nothing happened. I think it's really up to you but the longer you use it without the oil change the more prone it will be for anything. You can decide on your comfort level. Car engines are designed to run a long time. Hope I helped a little. Cheers.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles? It depends on the type of oil you use, the type of driving you do, and if you plan to keep the car running well for a long time. If you are using conventional motor oil and doing a lot of city driving you definitely need to change oil and filter every 3000 miles. If you want to stretch it, use a good quality synthetic motor oil and the best oil filter you can get. You should be able to go 6000 to 7000 miles before changing oil then.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles? Its every 6 months or 3000 miles but if you add oil that says it runs for 5000 miles than you will be good an additional 2000 miles. So don't waste your oil. oh, and it is real cheap (and simple) to do it yourself. If you dont want to do it yourself, go to walmart and at least buy the oil yourself (you can ask someone there to help you if you don't know which one to get...every car is different) then aftr you have bought the oil, give it to whomever is changing your oil..the price should be cheaper overall.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?I always recommend changing the oil in half of the time recommended by the manufacture on any vehicle.Basically I believe that oil changes are vital for the long term life of any engine and especially on engines like yours bec they can last many hundreds of thousands of kms.

Hope that helps and best of luck.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?I drive as Honda as well but as with ANY car. If it is in excellent shape and does not leak oil...then no, you do not need an oil change every 3k miles. I usually check my oil to see if I need it. When it is dirty (a dark brown color) then I get an oil change. (Do not wait to get it if it is almost black and super low). Oil is the color of like honey (clear yellow). You don't want to wait until you get the dark brown color you can get in between. Just check your oil :-) Easy! Have a great day!Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?I have a 2008 CR-V and Honda recommends every 10k miles.

That throws out the 3k interval argument.

I will never wait 10k maybe 6k-6.5k to be safe.

My feeling is the older the car gets the more frequent the oil changes.

With a car having 78k miles I would change the oil between 3.5k and 5k miles. If car is subject to harsh conditions I would lower the high end.

Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?Yes, a EVERY car should have an oil change every 3000 miles to keep it in good working order. It's called preventative maintenance. You can wait longer than 3000 miles and probably be fine, but the more you do that the more wear you're going to have on your engine.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?it really depends on how you drive and the conditions in which you drive, if you drive it like you stole it or drive many unpaved roads then every 3k miles. with some of the newer oils they guarantee protection up to 5k miles. and the newer vehicles actually recommend every 4k miles.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?I never change to oil before 6000 miles and have never had any problems with any Honda's I have owned. With the oil company money, I think it is somply a way for them to sell something more than gas.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?yes if you do alot of stop and go driving with conventional oil...no if you use synthetic oil...i use eneos motor oil...its fullly synthetic....i dont change mine until the 5000 mark...and i have 340,000 mile on the original motor...i do alot of stop and go driving....(LA traffic)Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles? No it depends on the age of your car as well. a older car, I would say yeah every 3k. But a newer accord in would do it ever 5k. Changing oil every 3k is old school and throwing money away.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles? It depends on how you drive your car if you drive hard you need to can your oil at 3000 miles but if you don't push your car then you can can go over 3000 miles.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?I HAVE A CIVIC AND I USE CASTROL SYNTEC AND I CHANGE IT EVERY 5000 MILESDoes my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?I use to change my oil every three months, now I just change it once a year during the emission inspection.Does my Honda really need an oil change every 3000 miles?yes.

I usually go to places like Jiffylube to get an oil change where I don't have to wait long. How long do I have to wait at one of these mom and pop mechanics. My own shop is very busy, but if a customer asks I can usually work in a waiter oil change. It does depend on the time of day and the work load, though, so only the shop can adequately answer your question.Do you have to wait long for an oil change at a mom and pop mechanic?I would trust a mom and pop or any new car dealer before I'd ever consider the non-mechanics at any chain fast oil change shop.

Have you ever watched the oil being drained from your crankcase? How many minutes do you feel the crankcase needs to drain? Is the motor hot or cold? What brand of oil filters do they use? Are you fussy about the brand of motor oil? Are you sure they poured the right viscosity back in?

You can't beat yourself if you do your own oil changes. You're the boss. Hot oil drains faster. You can let it drain for as long as you want (longer is better.) Pick a good brand of oil filter instead of no-name junk at fast oil change places. You have the opportunity to chose any brand of motor oil of the correct viscosity.

Any new car dealer would be a good second choice.

  • How often do I REALLY need an oil change?

The stickers always say to get an oil change every 3000 miles. But how often is it truly necessary? My car is in very good condition and relatively new, a 2003.How often do I REALLY need an oil change?Every 3000 or less. It's the best way to keep your vehicle running well, no matter the age of your car.How often do I REALLY need an oil change?according to Consumer Reports:

%26quot;If you think you're saving money by skipping an oil change, think again. Missing even one oil change can accelerate premature engine wear and cause engine damage, reducing long term car reliability.

When seeking long term car reliability, consider using what might be called the severe- or extreme-use maintenance schedule in your manual. Typically, drivers who need to follow such a schedule do a lot of city driving, live in a hot or cold climate or near the ocean, make a lot of short trips, tow a trailer, or drive in dusty conditions. If that sounds like it includes a lot of drivers, it does.

The difference between the regular maintenance and extreme-use schedule can be significant, with oil-change intervals as frequent as every 3,000 miles in the severe-use schedule, as opposed to the typical 7,500 in normal use.%26quot;How often do I REALLY need an oil change?3000 miles was the norm years ago on older cars but that is no longer necessary. Look in your owners manual it will tell you in there. My '99 Ford Ranger said change every 5000 miles. My '00 Chevy Blazer said to change every 7500 miles. And my '05 Chevy Colorado says to change at 10,000 miles or at least once a year. No kidding.

Newer cars are built with much tighter tolerances in the engine plus they %26quot;burn%26quot; a lot cleaner with fuel injection as opposed to a carburetor. So the oil stays cleaner longer.

I have followed the owners manual recommended oil change intervals in all my cars over the years and I have never had a problem. I traded the Ranger in with 120,000 miles on it and it still ran like new. I also had a '96 Chevy Beretta that I traded in once with 168,000 miles on it and that car also was still running like new.

Just change the oil when the manual tells you to and you will be all right. How often do I REALLY need an oil change? If you wont to keep your engine in good shape, then have it done between 3000- 3500 miles, you done need to play around when it comes to the engine oil , that's the life of the engine. It keeps the oil pump screen clean and open . look at your engine as you would look at yourself, the oil pump is like your heart , the oil is like your blood , if you take care of the engine like you take care of yourself then it's going to last for a long time. How often do I REALLY need an oil change?1) If your car is under warranty, then whatever the warranty says is the ONLY guideline you should be concerned with.

    2) If your car is not under warranty, then I recommend 5,000 miles. Most manufacturers recommend 7000 miles under normal use, or 3000/3500 for extreme use conditions, and 5,000 is right in between, and (if you do your next change on a 5k or 10K divisor) is incredibly easy to remember.

    3) If you truly believe you use your car in extreme conditions most of the time, THEN stick to the 3,000 (or 3,500) mile oil changes.

    4) if you really want to change your oil absolutely as little as possible, you can send in samples of oil to be tested and be told (based on oil chemistry) when to change your oil -- but this means paying for an oil test every month or two. Here is one place that offer this service:

    http://www.oaitesting.com/prices_automot

Note that doing this will cost about the same as an oil change itself...

    5) Switching to synthetic oil does not mean you can automatically extend your oil change period. Synthetic oils still depend on chemistry additive packages (i.e. the oil bottle says %26quot;service SL%26quot; or SM or whatever), which are intended to be used up in regular driving. How long they last depends on your driving (hence typical versus extreme conditions, which have less to do with the oil and more to do with these additives). How often do I REALLY need an oil change? If you still have it under warranty, do it every 3000 miles or 3 months whichever is sooner.

Otherwise, you can push to 5000 easily (many manuals recommend 5000).

If you mean the check engine light comes on when you are due for an oil change, you can take it to a local autozone or advance auto to have the codes cleared out.

However if it is a foreign care such as a BMW, Mercedes, or a few other brands you would have to take it to a dealer. Cheaper imports such as honda or nissan should be fine at advance or autozone though. How do you get the engine light to go off after an oil change?GM vehicles have a message center that say Change Engine Oil, to reset this you turn the key to the %26quot;ON%26quot; position without cranking or starting it, and pushing the gas pedal all the way to the floor and releasing 3 times in 15 seconds, may take 2 or 3 tries.

Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston?

Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston? How much does it cost usually? And should I take it to a BMW dealer only or anybody can do it? I usually take my Toyota to Wal-mart and they do the oil change for around $25 bucks. Thanks.Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston? Most modern BMWs since the late 1990s are designed to use full synthetic motor oils. Typically between 7-9qts of oil per oil change depending on the engine. If you look at prices for synthetic motor oils, you'll realize the oil alone will cost over $40. Oil filters are about $6-$10 each. So, material costs alone will be $50 or more.

BMW dealerships, at least in California, charge about $150 for an oil change. Not sure what it is in Houston, but Houston being a major metro area I would suspect something close to $150.

If you use an independent BMW shop, they might charge about $100 for an oil change. Check out www.bimrs.org to find an independent shop near you.

Lastly, the %26quot;cheapest%26quot; option you have is to do the oil change yourself. The tools required will cost about $100, and I'm adding room for shipping, taxes, etc. It's a one time investment and all future oil changes will only cost about $50-$60 in materials (as stated above).

If you're interested in the DIY option to save some money, check out www.bimmerdiy.com for instructions on how to do it yourself. I've been doing my own BMW maintenance for both of my BMW cars and the oil change only takes about 15min, so it's pretty easy.

Hope that answers your question, but you're not likely to get away with a decent oil change on a BMW for $25. If you go the DIY route, make sure you use a BMW-LongLife approved oil. The off-the-shelf options are:

    Mobil1 0w-40 European Car Formula

    Castrol Syntec 0w-30 European Formula

    Valvoline Synpower 5w-40

There are others, but the above are the ones you'll typically be able to find at your local autoparts store. If you mail order, there are alternatives from Amsoil and others.

Enjoy your BMW!!Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston?I don't want to sound like a jerk, but if you own a BMW and you want the cheapest oil change available, you probably won't like the car after a few years of bad maintenance.I wouldn't let the children at Wal-mart touch a Plymouth.Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston? You can DIY for about $30, but you need to go to BMW dealer to reset the oil service light. Unless you go to BMW specialist or dealer, you will not be able to reset the oil service light. Peak research scan tool (OIL reset tool for BMW) sells around $120 - $180. The tool allows you to reset the oil service light for BMW cars and read the service light code.

You should either do it yourself or have dealer do the oil change. All modern BMW cars use alumium oil pans. It is easy to strip the oil pan drain hole if over torqued. Cost of oil pan replacement is around $1300 (need to lift up the engine to make a room to slide the oil pan out)Whats the cheapest place to do an Oil change for a BMW in Houston?BMW and 'cheapest place' don't quite mix. You sure you can't do it yourself? Just about anyone can change your oil, but ............

How many mechanics does it take to do an engine flush and an oil change?

Went to jiffy lube Tuesday had to have an engine flush and oil change on a 95 Beretta. The oil was brown so took it to Jiffy Lube, the mechanics acted like they had never seen a Beretta before there was 4 different people working on it...

Ever since then the car has been overheating. What should I do?How many mechanics does it take to do an engine flush and an oil change?HI

first thing I'd do is check the oil and make sure they put enough back in.... Then check you coolant level. with the motor cold the coolant should be all the way to the top of the radiator (don't check it at the overflow tank) or no more than 1%26quot; from the top.. if its low add coolant.

    good luck

    tim

P.S. Don't take it to Jiffy Lube. they are really unskilled people. There are lots of letters stating that they forgot to put oil back in or didn't put in enough in.

    good luck

timHow many mechanics does it take to do an engine flush and an oil change?Try to get your money back but never take your car to a place like that again. They are NOT mechanics. They are people they hire off the street, for minimum wage and %26quot;train%26quot; themselves.

They probably have never seen a Beretta. Most of them probably never been under a car before they started working there. How many mechanics does it take to do an engine flush and an oil change?1How many mechanics does it take to do an engine flush and an oil change?First off, you should not ever go to %26quot;JiffyLube ever again.

These people are clearly %26quot;Morons%26quot;. Do you think or believe that these people are pre-trained or certified ? Upon hiring the manager has these boys sit in front of a tv and watch how oil changes are done period. No Foreman ever trains these boys how to do oil changes or anything else.

I worked for this company and the previous owner Pennzoil sold them for way too many negligent lawsuits. I watched a spanish guy put winshield washer in a ladies power steering unit. I said what are you going to do now? He the manager stated to me that let her take it out, if she returns we will state %26quot;how do we know you didnt do it%26quot; I said I quit. I went over to A dealership 10 mies away and was hired on the spot.

Anywhere you take your car, I know your make by heart, If boy's %26quot;so called men%26quot; start looking at your car or you like Wow, take your car and say I want my keys and leave now.

Unskilled, Horn dogs you dont want working on your car.I would not be able to know what they did to your car, But %26quot;negligence is number one on their list, So, I would take in upon myself to another mechanic certified and get an estimate.
